How to Select School Furniture Desk

How to Decide Which School Furniture Desk to Buy

Are you looking to buy a Schools Furniture desk for your school or classroom, or even for home use?

School furniture desks come in a variety of styles, shapes and sizes. Read the guide below to help you choose the right school desk to buy.
Difficulty: Moderate

Instructions

  1. Choose proper school furniture desk height -
For the most flexibility, buy a school desk where the height is adjustable.

  2. Choose a school desk with large enough desk top space for working on. Imagine what the student will be doing on a general basis at the desk and make sure there is enough room. (For example, if you know the student will need a notebook, a book, and a soft covered book to be used all at once, make sure the school desk top is wide enough for this. If the school desk will just be at a lecture hall where only a small notebook is generally used, than a smaller top is fine.)

  3. Decide on the style of school desks you want? Do you want standard school furniture desks where the chair is separate from the desk or do you want a school chair desk where the chair and desk is one unit? You might consider a double school desk where 2 desks are attached if you know the exact layout of your room in advance.

  4. Decide what kind of storage space is best for your school. Look at the school desks and measure how much storage there is. Most standard school desks have a book box under the top of the desk. Standard school desks (not including the school desk chair unit) have 2 storage options.

The first option is a book box that the top of the desk lifts open and book box is open underneath. The advantage of this design is that the student has full access to the contents of the book box. The disadvantage is that the desk needs to be completely cleared for the student to gain access to the books.

The second option is a book box with the front open. The front of the desk is open and students slip their books inside. This makes seeing the contents of the book box difficult, but the advantage is that you don't have to clear the desk in order to reach in and pull out supplies.

  5. Find out how sturdy the desk is. You need to look both at the frame of the school desk. You also need to look at what material the top of the desk is made of. Also consider what the book box is made of (usually plastic or metal). Based on how frequently the school desks will be used, you will want to get the sturdiest possible.

  6. Consider colors & finishes.
After your other considerations, you should consider what type of wood finish the desk has and what color the book box is. To make your classroom feel put together, match the decor of the other furniture in the room. Also try to stick to standard colors in case you have to buy more at a later time.
